Santas run in memory of James
THE family of a Portishead man who was killed in a road traffic accident two years ago are taking part in a charity run to mark the anniversary of his death.
Talented drummer James Candy, aged 36, died when the car he was a passenger in crashed with a van in Didcot in December 2008.
To mark the second anniversary of James’ death, his best friend Sean Suleman has arranged for his friends and family to take part in the Santas on the Run fund-raiser for the Children’s Hospice South West on Sunday.
The money will go to the James Candy Music Fund, which raises money for the music room at the Wraxall hospice as well as trips to the theatre.
James’ friends are now appealing for people to sponsor them on the 2km through Bristol to raise money for the worthy cause.
Alan Dixon, James’ brother-in-law, said: “Being a professional drummer, drumming was his life. His best friend Sean has helped to set up the connection with the children’s hospice and this music fund has helped to get music equipment for the music room and also enabled the children to go to the theatre.
“James did a lot of shows, pantomimes and musicals so a cause like this is exactly what he would have wanted. We are all happy in the knowledge that it’s something he loved and we are hoping to raise a lot of money from the event.”
