THE Clevedon family of a man who died of lung cancer has donated three vital pieces of equipment to Southmead Hospital in his memory.

Sam Hamer’s wife Trudy and their daughters Ellie, Steph and Georgia organised a mass sponsored cycle in September last year.

They wanted to raise money for the lung cancer unit where Sam was treated before he died in March 2013.

The family raised £9,500 for three chest drains. Nurse Deborah Walton said: “The pumps have been so beneficial to patients. We are extremely grateful to Trudy and everyone who raised this fantastic amount.”
