An 'eyesore' former café, which has been dismantled and left on Clevedon's Salthouse Fields, is due to be removed.

A temporary café has been taken down at the site but metal and wooden pieces of the building have been left piled up behind the model railway shed for more than a month.

Resident Robin Rice said: “It has been there at least five weeks and is a complete eyesore.

“I suspect the council will end up clearing it away with no cost to the owners.

“Why is this eyesore allowed to blight our beautiful Salthouse Fields?”

North Somerset Council says it will ask the owner of the café to remove the structure as soon as possible.

A spokesman said: “The café was always designed to be a temporary structure and has been removed as the concession has come to an end.

“We are currently reviewing long-term plans for the concession site.”
