ROWERS were cheered on by spectators as they took part in a memorial race in Pill.

The Ron Stevenson Row was held on Sunday and saw eight boats travel from Bristol along the River Avon to the village.

The event has been put on for more than 20 years in memory of Ron Stevenson, a founding member of the new Pill Regatta who was also renowned for his boat-building skills.

As part of celebrations, those at the event could also enjoy a barbecue on the green along with live music from the Irish band, Poteen.

The annual Pill Regatta will be held on Saturday from 2pm and will include stalls, games, a barbecue and entertainment on the green near Marine Parade. Boats will be on the water from 4pm.
