Rotary Club donates vital machine to East African hospital
A VITAL piece of medical equipment has been donated to a Zanzibar hospital thanks to a major fund-raising effort by the Rotary Club of Nailsea and Backwell.
The Glostavent is an anaesthetic machine, which is used all over the world in difficult environments, It continues to function even if oxygen or electricity supplies fail and it can also be used as a ventilator.
Members of the rotary club handed the machine over to Makunduchi Hospital and were also able to see the new maternity ward which is up and running.
Doctors can now perform caesarian sections and save the lives of women and children, thanks to the fund-raising efforts of the rotary club and its supporters.
