A woman who was born with a rare condition which left her blind has managed to lose almost six stone.

Ros Durant, aged 60 from Long Ashton, was born with aniridia and had no iris in either of her eyes and was registered borderline blind.

As she grew up, so did her weight and scans revealed she had a number of fractures in her spine.

When she turned to experts for help, Ros weighed 17 stone but has since managed to lose more than one-third of that.

She struggled with her weight throughout school and was diagnosed with type two diabetes after collapsing at work back in 1980.

Taking her health into her own hands, Ros began Weight Watchers in 2003 and quickly lost 17lbs, but after her mum died in 2009, she stopped her weight loss journey.

But, with the help of her consultant Nicky, Ros got back on track and lost five stone and 11lbs, taking her from over 17 stone to 11st 13lbs.

Ros said: β€œTo those who may be struggling, stay strong, think positively and there are no hurdles you cannot get over.”
