Roadworks planned for Tickenham
PUBLISHED: 15:00 11 November 2011
DRIVERS could face restrictions when travelling through Tickenham from Monday.
For 10 days, work will be carried out by Bristol Water on a 4,224m length of water pipe that runs from Tickenham to Northern Way in Clevedon.
The work to clean the pipe will not affect customers’ supplies but there will be traffic restrictions in place.
The first phase will take place between Monday and November 18, when Washing Pound Lane will be closed for long periods during that time. Signs will tell drivers of the specific times.
From November 21-23, there will be two-way traffic controls on the B3130 Tickenham Road close to Clevedon Court. Also on November 21, a stop-go board will be used for about an hour around noon outside of the company’s Clevedon Treatment Works.
This essential work is being carried out to maintain the high standard of the local water supply.
Ice-pigging will be used to clean the pipe. This will see a thick ice slurry pumped into the pipe, which picks up sediment and other particles as it travels.
