A BUSY road in Portishead has been reopened temporarily today (Tues) to prevent large queues forming in the town centre.

Yesterday (Mon) the High Street became highly congested after a gas leak meant part of the road having to be dug up.

This coincided with the closure of Wyndham Way for resurfacing, which saw drivers diverted along the already-busy High Street.

North Somerset Council has decided to now delay the work in Wyndham Way for a day to allow the road to reopen while the gas leak in the High Street is fixed.

This means the resurfacing work should now be completed by Friday instead of Thursday.
