A group of shanty singers has raised hundreds of pounds for a life-saving charity.

The Barnacle Buoys presented a cheque for £1,129.86 to the Portishead RNLI.

The cash was raised while singing at the Curzon Cinema, in Old Church Road in Clevedon, a few weeks ago.

The bucket collection was made after the cinema-goers left on two occasions after watching a showing of Fisherman's Friends - which features the RNLI and a group of shanty singers.

The singers, who have raised money for a number of charities, thanked cinema-goers for their generosity.

They recently performed at the North Somerset Show in Wraxall on May Day to the gathering crowds.
