A Clevedon church celebrated its 50th Christingle in the run up to Christmas.

People flocked to Christchurch on Christmas Eve to take part in the service.

Participants were asked to take an orange, decorated with a red ribbon, dried fruit, sweets and a candle.

Reverend Clive Jennings said: “It’s always been a great tradition for us to hold the service on Christmas Eve and it has become so popular that we now have to have two services to accommodate everyone.

“It always has a really great atmosphere.

“We also have puppets as a way of bringing God’s Christmas message to life for young children.”

An all age worship service will be held this Sunday at 10,30am.
