The six-strong team from St Andrew’s Church competed in the finals of the Bath and Wells Diocese bell-ringing competition in West Somerset.

Backwell was drawn to ring first and was awarded just 18 faults by the judges, which the other teams failed to beat.

Tony and Rebecca Cox, Glenn and Ann Taylor, Maryl Chambers and Sue Threlfall were delighted to come first.

Tony said: “We are very pleased to have won again. We haven’t won it for a few years now and it encourages people and helps to gel the team together.”

The bell-ringers are looking for new members to join. To find out more call Tony on 01275 462416.
