A SPATE of disturbing telephone calls in Portishead alarmed a number of residents.
Police are alerting people to a run of nuisance calls that were made to different homes in the early hours of Monday morning.
Portishead PC Jenny Clark said: “We have had several reports from people who received telephone calls from a man at around 1am on December 10, from a withheld number. He gave people different messages, some of which were very frightening, including telling them they needed to get out of the house because he had poured petrol on it.”
Police believe there may have been more calls made that have not been reported.
Anyone who receives calls like this should call the police on 101 so they can monitor the situation.
