The family of a teenager who jumped off a motorway bridge near Clevedon have thanked those who rushed to her aid.

The 17-year-old girl, whose identity has not been publicly revealed, was taken to hospital in Bristol following the incident on December 30 last year.

The family asked the Times to thank everyone who helped the teenager during her hour of need.

They said: “This is to let all of the drivers and witnesses and all of the ambulance and police crew know how much heart-felt gratitude we have for all your help on that awful day.

“If only the professional people in all authorities listened to us and our girl, this dreadful insistence could have been avoided.

“Our girl has now got a very long and painful road to recovery but she has now realised there are people out there who are kind and caring.

“Once more, a big thank you to everyone who helped our girl on that horrendous day and especially to the lady who stayed with her until the ambulance left.”
