People of all ages braved the wind and rain to walk or run the 5km, 10km and 20km routes around Nailsea for the rotary club’s annual charity walks event.

Families signed up to support various charities and managed to raise a record amount for the event.

Alan Davies, chairman of The Rotary Club of Nailsea and Backwell, thanked those who helped them raise the large sum of money.

He said: “The number taking part was the highest ever and early signs are that money raised for many deserving causes will also be a record, exceeding last year’s magnificent total of £18,500.

“The club would like to thank all the people who took part and those who so generously sponsored participants.

“The club is also indebted to event sponsors.”
