The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain in North Somerset today (Tuesday) as heavy showers are expected to develop throughout the afternoon.

The warning for the district will be in force from 3-10pm, as heavy rainfall is predicted this afternoon.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Heavy showers will develop through Tuesday afternoon, perhaps becoming more persistent in places later.

“While not everywhere will see showers, some places may see 10-15mm of rain fall within an hour, with 25mm possibly falling very locally in three to six hours.

“As the ground in these areas is already near saturated, this rainfall brings an increased risk of flooding. Lightning may be an additional hazard.”
