CANDLES, oranges and ribbons filled a Backwell school as pupils marked the start of advent.
Children from the school made more than 200 Christingles for their family and friends and celebrated with a special service.
Year six children led the celebration of light with readings, carols and singing and more than 100 parents attended the event.
Headteacher Lesley Barton said: “This is a lovely start to the Christmas period. The children enjoy making the Christingles and sharing the Christmas message with family and friends in our lovely service.”
