Dedicated pupils have been presented with awards after taking part in the Nailsea Young Historian competition.

Children from schools who have visited the tithe barn on educational trips this year were invited to enter the competition.

Finalists were invited to join the Friends of the Tithe Barn for a cream tea in the historic building to celebrate their achievements.

Judges presented awards to Illy White, Oliver Birchenough and Mary Sims from Backwell Junior School and Isla Martin from Kingshill Church School.

They were awarded certificates, prizes and vouchers by Jan Barber, chairman of Nailsea Town Council.

The overall winner, who received the Nailsea Young Historian Cup for 2019 was Mary Sims.

The Tithe Barn Trust would like to thank all the children who entered the competition and the parents, grandparents, teachers and friends who attended the event.
