A hard-working youth worker has been praised for his sterling efforts over the years.

Alan Rowe will retire from his role with Portishead Youth Centre this month.

Ahead of his departure, Alan received an award from Portishead Town Council on March 13.

He joined the youth centre back in 1991 and the past 28 years have seen him undertake a number of challenges – not least a major refurbishment project.

Having helped a generation of children growing up, it is no surprise so many people want the chance to say thanks and goodbye.

Alan said: “I have had the privilege to work with a vast number of very talented and committed people throughout my career in Portishead – from management committee members and trustees, youth workers and centre staff to volunteers and young people.”

Councillors Peter Mitchell, Jean Lord and Ros Cruse presented Alan with his award.
