There will be no bandstand in Portishead.

Potential plans to build a memorial bandstand in Portishead will be discussed tonight (Wednesday).

The World War One Centenary Working Party, featuring members of Portishead Town Council, will discuss the idea at the authority’s recreation and works committee meeting this evening.

Local groups who may be interested in the idea have been invited to air their opinions on the suggestion, with key questions about size, style and location to be discussed.

The town council has been exploring various ways to mark the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

Cllr Ros Cruse, who is on the working party, wants people to share stories about loved ones who have given their lives serving Portishead – whether that be with the armed forces, emergency services or in another way.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at 7.30pm at the Folk Hall.
