The final total raised at one of Portishead’s biggest annual charity events has been revealed.

A spring swimathon is organised by Portishead Rotary Club at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre.

This year’s fundraiser was held on March 17 and saw 78 teams – featuring more than 500 swimmers – compete.

A total of £12,550 was collected. Portishead Stroke Drop-in Centre, Dyslexia Portishead, The Alzheimer’s Society, Macmillan Cancer Support and The Kanami Trust in Kenya will benefit.

Next year’s swimathon will take place on March 30.
