A charity swim in the spring has been launched this week.

Portishead Rotary Club every year holds a swimathon at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre to raise crucial funds for good community causes.

During its 22-year run, more than £207,000 has been raised thanks to fundraisers swimming hundreds of thousands of lengths.

This year’s event will be held at the same venue on March 30.

A club spokesman said: “ Our main charities this year are Portishead Youth Centre and Alive, supporting those with dementia in care homes and at day centres.

“Teams of six swimmers are invited to take part and swim in relay at their own pace for 35 minutes.

“Please come and join us.”

To enter, ask for a registration pack at Parish Wharf, alternatively contact Mollie Young by calling 07788 590371 or email her at mollieyoung@talktalk.net
