Portishead RNLI crew called to rescue kayaker

Portishead RNLI were called to a kayakers who had fallen into the water and was struggling to get back into their kayak yesterday (Sunday).

The team were called shortly after noon after spending the morning training.

A spokesman from the RNLI said: “A member of the public reported there was a kayaker actually in to the water off of Sugar Loaf Beach, Portishead, who was struggling to get back in their kayak.

“After approximately 15 minutes of trying, the caller became concerned and rang to raise the alarm.

“As the crew arrived on scene the kayaker had managed to self recover and was offered an escort back to the beach. Once the kayaker was safe and well the volunteers returned to the station. It was a call with good intent.”
