Anglo-German relations were built as dozens of people visited Portishead’s twin town.

Members of the Portishead Twinning Association visited Schweich in the western Trier-Saarburg district of Germany.

The group was greeted by their hosts at Luxembourg Airport before meeting the town’s mayor, Christine Horsch.

During their stay, members enjoyed a tour of the villages and vineyards in the Mosel Valley, and enjoyed an annual wine festival in the neighbouring village of Mehring.

A twinning association spokesman said: “The final evening was spent at the Pub Isseler Hof on the banks of the Mosel.

“It was a very pleasant way to conclude an enjoyable visit before flying off to Heathrow the following morning with many happy memories and thoughts of the Schweich visit to Portishead next summer.”
