The Portishead Lions Club presented £240 and £200 to the army cadets and police cadets, respectively, after the groups helped members raise more than £4,000 on the Santa Float.

Platoon Commander of the army cadets, Rob Wing, said: “It was a pleasure helping the Lions once again and this money will go towards the upkeep of our kit.”

Police cadet leader Kirstie Mayes said: “We will be putting the money towards upgrading a couple of our Resus-Annies (first aid dolls), helping the cadets improve their first aid skills for when they are out in the community at events.”

The club will use the remainder of the money collected during the festive season to further the work of the members to support individuals and organisations in the community.
