An author will give a talk about his novel at a North Somerset library next month.

Justin Newland has published The Genes of Isis, and will share anecdotes about his book and writing on May 12.

The book is set in Ancient Egypt, and takes its inspiration from the myth of gods and goddesses Isis and Osiris and the story of the flood from the Book of Genesis.

Justin, who is from Weston, will be in conversation with spoken word coach Heidi Hollis.

He says he likes looking at stories with a different or new perspective and aims to write historical fiction with a supernatural twist.

He is no stranger to giving talks, as he was one of the speakers at the Weston Literary Festival earlier this year.

He will speak at Portishead Library, in Harbour Road, on May 12 at 11am.

Tickets are free, and can be booked online by visiting www.eventbrite.co.uk and searching for Justin Newland.
