Join the crazy antics of the Portishead raft race.

Organisers are celebrating 10 years since the re-launch of Portishead's crazy raft race.

In 2009 a new team was formed with the aim to re-launch the annual event as a family fun day out for the whole community.

Each year, thousands now flock to the Lake Grounds to enjoy the raft race and waterside picnic that sees more than 20 rafts compete against each other, battling it out for the coveted trophies.

In addition, there is a popular children's edible boat regatta, there are scores of village fete stalls and plenty of live music.

The fun kicks off this year on July 7th with live music from 11.30am. The edible boat regatta starts at 12.30pm with registration taking place on the day, so get making, it's not too late to enter.

This is followed by the main races, with different heats every 30 minutes, ending in a grand finale and prize giving.

The event raises thousands of pounds for charities each year, with RNLI Portishead being the main beneficiary.
