Roadworks to begin in Portishead tomorrow

'State-of-the-art' roadworks will see three busy Portishead roads shut for four weeks in the coming days.
A £300,000 revamp of Clevedon Road, Bristol Road and High Street will begin tomorrow (Monday) after North Somerset Council commissioned 'vital' maintenance using a specialist recycling technique.
The work will see the road closed 24/7, dug up and re-laid using high-tech methods - reducing the cost and environmental impact.
The council's executive member for highways, James Tonkin, said: "We are doing this vital resurfacing work during the summer holidays as there are two schools in the area.
"The state-of-the-art recycling process means the road is dug up, recycled, and re-laid, giving a new surface with the same strength and life expectancy as one traditionally designed and constructed.
"It brings huge environmental benefits."
Businesses will be open as usual.
