Growers battled against tough weather conditions to take part in Portishead’s annual flower show and country fair at the weekend.
Despite the hot, dry weather over the past few months, plenty of new exhibitors showcased their best efforts.
Hundreds of classes were on display as well as entertainment including live music and dancing.
A flower show spokesman said: “Despite the adverse weather conditions leading up to the show, the horticultural tent was ablaze with colour, and the handicraft and cookery classes were well supported.
“The conditions on the Saturday were not as predicted and the 2,000-plus visitors who attended were able to enjoy a packed programme of arena events.”
However, the wet weather on Sunday meant visitor numbers were down and some planned entertainment had to be cancelled, leaving organisers facing a financial deficit.
