Simon Gill was handed the award in the Bahamas earlier this month.

The 40-year-old man has been racing since he was 16 years old and trains two or three times a week.

He has gone on to win various titles including the European championship in his racing career.

Simon has even inspired his 10-year-old son to follow in his footsteps.

He said: "Winning the world championship felt like a dream come true.

"I felt like a celebrity walking around the Bahamas. Everywhere we went people would stop us and ask for photos but now I'm back home.

"My son has also joined the junior class and he won the most improved rider this year. It's just amazing really.

"He said to me, 'I will beat you one day dad'."
