A Portishead driving instructor is hanging up his learner plates after teaching people to drive for 38 years.
Steve Allen, who found himself more recently teaching the grandchildren of some of his early pupils, is set to retire.
He is planning to move north to be with his children and grandchildren.
The 65-year-old, of Steve Allen Driving School, said: “I had a brush with cancer in 2015 and even though I have the all clear now, it makes you look at your life and re-evaluate things.
“I have absolutely loved teaching the people in and around Portishead to drive.
“I have made some really good friends in the process, but it’s time for me to move on and spend some time enjoying the grandchildren now.”
While Steve is not taking on any more students he has promised to stay in Portishead to see the last of his students pass their test.
