Animal charity - PDSA - is giving 30 participants the chance to be rescued from Portishead Marina by a 13-stone canine on September 28.

The dogs are specially trained by members of Newfoundland Friends charity throughout the year.

PDSA is the UK's leading veterinary charity which helps sick pets.

Head Vet Nurse , Joanne Steenson said it costs the charity £60million annually to provide vital care.

She said: "I'll be braving the waters myself to experience the power, intelligence and skill of these immense animals.

"I'm encouraging local animal lovers to join us and take the plunge to help us raise vital funds to treat the UK's sick and injured pets."
