Underground cable fault causes power cuts to almost 40 homes

Almost 40 homes are without power in North Somerset this afternoon (Friday).

An underground cable fault has caused the incident and engineers are working to have all properties back on by 4.30pm.

Homes in Portishead, Backwell and Congresbury have been affected.

A Western Power Distribution spokesman told the Times: “We have an underground cable fault which occured at 1.55pm.

“We hope to have all customers back online by 3.30pm.

“We will be making investigations at a later stage.”

Affected areas

- Brampton Way in Portishead, 24 homes.

- Backwell Bow in Backwell, eight homes.

- Park Road in Congresbury, five homes.

*UPDATE 5.27pm* Power has been restored at the aforementioned homes.
