Portishead Army Cadets will use a donation to fund new uniforms for its members.

It received a donation this week to thank it for supporting the festive float run by the Portishead Lions.

Lion David Colston heaped praise on the cadets thanking them for their ‘invaluable contribution’ in collecting funds.

He said their support had enabled it to be ‘one of the most successful collections so far’.

The cadets, which are open to people aged 12-18, provide children and young adults with the chance to take part in challenges and activities which they may otherwise not be able to enjoy, including working towards their Duke of Edinburgh awards.

The cadets’ Tommy Brown said the donation will enable the group to get new uniforms so it could prsent a proper military image.

The cadets meet on Thursdays and information about their work can be found at www.armycadets.com
