VOLUNTEERS are desperately needed to help with the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in Pill this year.

The legion’s Portishead branch is on a search for people to help carry out official collections in the lead-up to Remembrance Day at both static points and on a house-to-house basis.

In particular, there is a huge shortage of volunteers to cover the Pill area.

The annual Poppy Appeal runs for 13 days prior to November 11 and raises money toward the work of the Royal British Legion with current and former servicemen and women.

Anyone who is able to help can contact the honorary Poppy Appeal organiser on 01934 832468 or the secretary on 01275 818317.

Volunteers can also visit the Poppy Shop, which will be open in Stoke Road from October 29 to November 11, Mondays to Saturdays.
