MEMBERS of the Portishead and Bristol Lifeboat crew simulated rescue operations in a training exercise at Portishead Open Air Pool.
The crew, in full rescue gear, used an inflatable dinghy to involve volunteers in capsize and recovery drills, emergency survival techniques and swimming tests.
Helen Lazenby of the lifeboat trust said: “Practising in a controlled environment makes it easier for the crew to monitor movements, we are very grateful to the pool trustees for their support.”
The lifeboat crew will be entering a raft in this weekend’s raft race at the Lake Grounds. The event takes place from noon on Sunday.
