PORTISHEAD Open Air Pool joined the biggest coffee morning in the world in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support on Friday.
Scores of people took to the water to make the most of the autumn sunshine, while others enjoyed coffee and cakes, tried their luck on the raffle or guessed how many coffee beans were in a jar.
A pool spokesman said: “We couldn’t have asked for better weather, we have been bowled over by the support for this event and have raised well over £1,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support.”
The 2014 summer season at the open air pool on the seafront has now ended but the pool is open on Saturday mornings for cold water swimming on a trial basis over the coming weeks. The hardy can swim between 9am and noon for an admission fee of £5. Wearing wetsuits is encouraged and hot showers and drinks will be available.
