PORTISHEAD police are launching a crime prevention and personal safety day on Monday.
PCSOs Dawn Tremlett and Chea Scandret will be using the mobile police station when they hand out safety leaflets and accessories to help people stay safe at this time of year.
Funded by Portishead Neighbourhood Watch and Portishead Lions, giveaway items will include jingle bells that attach to purses, drink toppers to prevent spiking, bogus caller ID magnifying cards and for younger people high visibility stickers and slap bands.
The mobile unit will be at outside Portishead library in Harbour Road from 9.30-11.30am and in The Co-Operative car park from noon to 2pm.
The New Year’s Eve crime prevention day ties in with the force’s Have the Christmas you Deserve Campaign, which focuses on how to stay safe this winter.
