A RELENTLESS operation – aimed at targeting metal theft and those who handle stolen goods – has been launched by Avon and Somerset police.
Various metal items containing electronic tracking devices were sent out around the force at key locations throughout the week.
Prevention work took place in North Somerset with officers visiting several schools to give advice about protecting the buildings from metal thieves.
Detective Inspector Simon Wilstead, who co-leads the constabulary’s metal theft response, said: “Metal theft is increasing nationally and we are committed to dealing with it robustly. We take this type of criminality extremely seriously as the consequences don’t just impact financially on communities and individuals but it can also put people’s lives at risk.
If anyone has information about illegal activity in their area call 101.
