POLICE cadets from Portishead had the chance to help a huge cruise ship dock at Avonmouth.

Four members of the town’s cadet force, along with one of their leaders Stuart Hayes, gave a hand on board as well as helping with gate control and security checks.

This enabled the youngsters to understand the wider role of policing, not only locally but across the Avon and Somerset patch.

More cadets will be helping out with cruise ship arrivals in the next six months.
