Dozens of arrests have been made by Avon and Somerset police.

The ‘day of action’ took place yesterday (Thursday) with officers knocking on doors to carry out the arrests of people who are wanted by police or have failed to attend court.

Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said: “Avon and Somerset remains a safe place to live, however it is right the constabulary targest criminals who are causing the most concern in proactive days of action.

“I hope this shows local people the police are listening, responding and putting an end to the activities that are a detriment to the quality of life in our local communities.”

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cullen added: “The operation is about high visibility, high impact policing to show criminals in the Avon and Somerset area there is no hiding place for those who choose to follow a life of crime.”
