A total of £1,100 was raised at a community sports day which included visits from the fire brigade, army cadets and dancing displays.
Pill and District Children and Young People’s Partnership and the Crockerne Primary School Pool Group held a sports and fun day to raise money for their groups.
The children and young people’s partnership’s secretary Joanna Burt said the highlight of the afternoon was the Arthur Taylor Cup, which sees men and women go head to head in a tug of war in memory of the group’s founding member Arthur.
The battle of the sexes resulted in a win for the ladies.
Joanna said it was a ‘fantastic afternoon’ and added: “We would like to thank all the parents and children who braved the weather and joined us.”
She also thanked volunteers who helped out on the day as well as Portishead Army Cadets and Pill fire brigade who attended.
