The precinct was packed on Saturday, as hundreds of people gathered to celebrate the start of the festive seasons at Pill’s annual Christmas light switch-on.

The Pill Ladies Morris Dancers, Crockerne School choir and the Pill Owls men’s choir, which celebrate its centenary this year, opened the festivities, before Pill Rag queen, Leah Case flipped the switch on this year’s brilliant display.

Christmas trees throughout the precinct were lit up as the crowd cheered.

Hundreds of children lined up to see Father Christmas while singer Susan grant entertained the crowd with a selection of festive favourites.

Andrew Emery, a member of the Pill Lights Committee, said: “It was a great turn out.

“I couldn’t tell you how many were the, but the precinct was packed and we had at least 135 children line up to see Father Christmas.”

“It was a wonderful evening and all involved did very well.”
