Families flocked to a Somerset community orchard for its annual apple day over the weekend.

Dozens of adults and children attended Pill Community Orchard to help with the harvest as part of the pressing day on Saturday afternoon.

The event, which runs every year, was once again organised by the voluntary group Friends of Watchhouse Hill.

The sun beat down as families climbed among the branches of the orchard's many apple trees and gathered windfall from the ground.

The collected apples were then crushed in the myriad of provided presses, creating gallons of delicious fresh apple juice for the volunteers to take home.

There were also a selection of other apple-based refreshments, cakes and buns for those who had worked up an appetite while picking apples to feast upon.

A guess the weight of the cake competition was also held.
