The sun shone brightly as thousands of spectators enjoyed Portishead Raft Race on this afternoon (Sunday).
Dozens of people braved the chilly-looking lake by launching their homemade rafts on the water in a series of races and while some proved to be solidly built, others lacked engineering expertise.
There was also an edible boats race where floating fruits replaced wooden structures and enabled children to compete as well.
The Lake Grounds once again held the big event and there was plenty of other activities for people to enjoy.
Games stalls were set up to give Portishead a fun fair feeling throughout the afternoon.
And tasty food was served up too to satisfy even the hungriest appetites of racers.
The event tends to raises thousands for charities too, with previous recipients including the town’s Christmas lights appeal and RNLI organisations.
