Pharmacy plans thrown out

PROPOSALS for a pharmacy at Portishead’s Co-Operative food store have been thrown out.

Members of North Somerset Council’s north area planning committee voted to refuse the plans for the free-standing building at the Wyndham Way site on the grounds that it would be out of keep from the surrounding buildings and would result in the loss of car parking spaces.

The decision made on Thursday went against the recommendation of the authority’s planning officers.
