Avon and Somerset Constabulary have begun recruiting members for their police community team.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) must build relationships with residents, support vulnerable people and solve problems and concerns.

Candidates from various backgrounds are encouraged to apply, whether they are returning to work after raising a family or have recently left college.

Successful applicants will earn a starting salary of £20,115 plus shift pay and allowances.

Applications will close at midnight on July 28.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cullen said: "We're encouraging people from all backgrounds
to apply, because we want our PCSOs to reflect the communities we serve.

"We need people with different perspectives and experiences working for us, so we can deliver the best possible service to the public."

Applications can be made through the force's website over the next week and a half.
