A NAILSEA park is set to obtain royal approval as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Millennium Park, off Nailsea Park, will become a protected Queen Elizabeth II Field, if approved by North Somerset Council this month.
The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge (QEFC), operated by Fields in Trust, was set up to commemorate a momentous year in British history with both the jubilee and Olympic Games taking place over the summer.
And if the council rubberstamps the application, the park will receive special protected status.
Millennium Park, which Scotch Horn Leisure Centre and a Tesco supermarket back onto, is popular among people of all ages with a children’s play area, zip-wire, skate park and football pitch.
