A TEAM of dedicated volunteers from Christian churches across North Somerset will be pounding the pavements, distributing red envelopes for Christian Aid Week.
The house to house collections being held all week until Sunday will make a significant contribution to the organisation’s war on poverty.
Diane Bridgwater who is helping the Portishead collectors raise awareness of the project said: “People often think that Christian Aid only helps Christians but that is not the case at all.
“Christian Aid is a Christian organisation that insists the world can free people of poverty regardless of faith or nationality.”
Last year the Portishead collection amounted to a grand total of 8,800 and organisers hope to top that figure this year.
