GARDENING enthusiasts will be showing off months of hard work during Portishead Open Gardens event this weekend.

Hundreds of visitors are expected to view the 15 gardens open to the public on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables on display there will be chances to indulge in refreshments, with many gardens offering teas, home-made cakes, light lunches and a barbecue. The weekend programme is packed with a variety of activities in the open gardens ranging from charity plant and book sales to art and craft exhibitions.

Programmes detailing the individual gardens and events, including information about which gardens are flat, have easy access and parking facilities, are available in Morgan Westley stationers and Season’s Florist in High Street, or from 45 Nore Road.

This is one of Portishead in Bloom’s main fundraising activities. To find out more visit www.portisheadinbloom.org.uk
