A branch of the Royal British Legion handed a generous amount of money to a nursing home, in Somerset.

Eight members of the legion's Yatton branch, visited Dunkirk Memorial House, in Bishops Lydeard, to present it with a £1,000 cheque.

The cheque was presented to Anne Lewin by the Royal British Legion chairman Simon Reakes.

Afterwards the group had a tour of the memorial house and the facilities.

Dunkirk Memorial House provides nursing and personal care as well as short-term respite care for the armed forces community and their families.

It is also one of five Royal British Legion care homes across the UK with a specialist dementia care unit.

The house is designed to ensure residents and visitors feel as comfortable as possible.

Residents have spacious bedrooms plus relaxing lounge areas to sit and enjoy the countryside views.
